Ввоз иностранной валюты свободен (за исключением пакистанских и индийских рупий); вывоз иностранной валюты разрешен в пределах сумм, задекларированных при въезде. Ввоз и вывоз национальной валюты ограничиваются суммой в 250 рупий на одно лицо. Эмиссионным институтом является Центральный банк Цейлона, учрежденный в 1950 г., осуществляющий валютный контроль и устанавливающий официальный курс рупии Шри-Ланки на базе "корзины" валют основных партнеров страны. В денежном обращении находятся банкноты в 2, 5, 10, 50 и 100 рупий, а также монеты в 1 рупию, 1, 2, 5, 10, 25 и 50 центов; = SLR; SL Rs
